Loving anyone or anything more than God is idolatry. It shows a lack of trust that God can take care of your emotions better than you can. Our emotions (hearts) can and do deceive us, God does not. God wants to lead our hearts and guide our emotions into a true loving communion with Him, ourselves, and others.
