Central Truth

Jesus Christ is one divine person who possesses two complete natures: a truly divine nature and a truly human nature. He did not cease to be God when He became human, nor did His humanity merely appear to be real. The eternal Son took upon Himself a complete human nature and lived among us in perfect obedience to the Father.

Believers cannot imitate Christ’s divine attributes or repeat His unique saving work. We are, however, called to follow the pattern of His human life: humility, prayer, holiness, love, dependence upon the Father, submission to Scripture, and obedience in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Christian discipleship is more than copying Jesus from a distance. Through union with Christ, believers are indwelt by the Holy Spirit and progressively formed into Christ’s likeness.
