A Prayer of Repentance, Truth, and Restoration

Heavenly Father,

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your steadfast love. According to Your abundant mercy, blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.

Lord, I come before You with the truth as best I can see it. I bring You my decisions, my failures, my regrets, my disappointments, and the things I still do not understand. I bring You the good I intended, the mistakes I made, the responsibilities I neglected, and the consequences I must now face.

But Father, I know that my understanding is incomplete. My memories may be imperfect, my judgments may be clouded by hurt, and my explanations may sometimes protect me from truths I do not want to face.

Show me what I still cannot see. Correct what I remember wrongly. Expose the pride, fear, selfishness, bitterness, and unbelief that may remain hidden in my heart. Help me distinguish between what was done to me, what I did to others, and what I must take responsibility for before You.

Lord, I do not want to excuse my sins by pointing to my suffering, nor do I want to condemn myself for things that were never mine to control. Give me the humility to confess what is truly mine, the courage to make right what I can, and the grace to release what I cannot change.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

Forgive what was sinful. Heal what was wounded. Redeem what was wasted. Restore what can be restored according to Your wisdom, and teach me to surrender what must be left behind.

And Father, receive whatever was genuinely offered to You in faith and love. Even in the midst of my failures, there were things I tried to do for good, people I sought to serve, burdens I carried, and sacrifices I made. You know where my motives were sincere and where they were mixed with pride, ambition, fear, or the desire to control.

Purify what was imperfect. Forgive what was wrong. Let whatever was truly done for Your glory remain in Your hands.

Lord Jesus, I cannot rewrite yesterday, undo every consequence, or recover every opportunity. But through Your sacrifice and resurrection, I know that my failures do not have to define my future. My hope rests not in my record of obedience, but in Your perfect righteousness and sufficient grace.

Do not let regret turn into despair, disappointment into bitterness, or repentance into endless self-condemnation. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.

Teach me what obedience looks like today. Not merely in the great decisions before me, but in my thoughts, my words, my relationships, my responsibilities, and the quiet choices no one else sees.

I do not ask You to declare everything I have done good, nor to remove every consequence of what I have done wrong. I ask You to make me truthful, humble, faithful, and wholly surrendered to You.

Father, You will not despise a broken and contrite heart. So I bring You mine, not because I have finally understood everything, but because You already know everything.

Search me. Cleanse me. Forgive me. Restore me. Lead me.

And whatever remains of my days, let them belong more completely to You than the days that have passed.

In the name of Jesus Christ, my Savior and Redeemer, I pray.

Amen.
